Christian Mission Aid - James Kong a Sudanese evangelist, working with CMA.

“I just want to serve God with all I’ve got,” says James Kong, a Sudanese evangelist in Dajo South Sudan. Because of its remoteness, Dajo like other secluded places in South Sudan is almost unknown to the outside world.

Out of a population of 21,000 people, only about 2% are literate. The Dajo inhabitants have only one school in the region and did not have access  to health care until

recently when Christian Mission Aid (CMA) set up a clinic in the area.

The people here are also un-reached with the Gospel. One of the people groups – the Buldit, do not even have a written language.

As part of extending Christian Outreach to South Sudan, CMA has already begun laying the ground. Because the people do not know English, bible story we teach them English through the English Adult Literacy program. The Bible is one of the main textbooks.
CMA provides the Bibles since majority of the people do not have access to a Bible and some have never even seen a Bible.
Through the classes and showing the Jesus Film and other Christian videos, the Sudanese are showing a passion and desire to embrace Christianity. Until CMA came to Dajo, Juaibor, Keew and other remote areas in South Sudan, the Sudanese had no one to teach them.

This ministry is inspired by the Lord’s call to take up the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), where the Lord commissioned the disciples to go, baptize and teach.  In relation to South Sudan and as the Bible says in Hebrews 13:3, we are reminded that many live in persecution of their faith.  In this environment of the persecuted church in Sudan, there is a hunger for the Word and for

salvation, and there are many who are willing to go as disciples, but few are properly ordained to “baptize” and serve their congregations, and few have the knowledge to “teach” the truth of the Gospel.

Through this project, CMA seeks to ‘”equip evangelists, pastors and teachers for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” as it says in Ephesians 4:12.

CMA’s goal is to strengthen the capacity of the Christian churches so that their disciples can go and fulfill the Great Commission, and teach love, forgiveness, reconciliation in place of violence and encourage good Christian witness in their communities.

CMA does this in a way that emphasizes the humility shown in the death and resurrection of Christ.  By this approach, CMA will stem the violence so common in the societies of the project area and foster unity among the Christian churches reached.  Unity and good Christian witness are the cornerstones and foundation for peace.

As an interdenominational organization, CMA works with all Christian denominations in its project areas.  Our strategy is to engage all Christian denominations so that no divisions between denominations are created and the foundation for enduring unity and peace will be established.  In this way, we can empower the persecuted church in this part of Sudan so that it will “no longer be as infants, tossed with waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery, from their cunning in the interests of deceitful scheming” (Ephesians 4:14).

preachingCMA is presently working in four of the most remote, unreached and underserved areas in South Sudan.  Sudanese church leaders are hungry and eager to learn more about the Gospel of Christ.  Their zeal is obvious as Sunday after Sunday, they continue to shepherd their flock under trees or in mud-walled, grass thatched huts.
Together with visiting missionaries, CMA, held several training seminars in 2007. The turnout was large as people walked for hours to come and hear the Word.

The harvest is indeed plenty, but the laborers are few. Alone, we can only do the best we can with the resources at hand. Together, we can do much more. We need YOU!
Will you join us in this exciting venture to reach the people of South Sudan with the Gospel of Christ?
