Saving lives in South Sudan Print E-mail

Christian Mission Aid“My son, my son, someone please help my son!” a shrieking shout came from a woman carrying a little boy in her arms from outside CMA’s compound in Juaibor. Our nurses quickly rushed to pick up this little boys lifeless body dangling as the mother held him tightly. He was still conscious, but obviously very ill exhibited by his extremely thin limbs.

Peter Guor a six year old boy, was so dehydrated that it caused his body  to be weak to the point that he could not walk and so his mother had to carry him. Peter was diagnosed with Meningitis.

Serving the sick

Christian mission AidSouth Sudan’s infrastructure is almost non-existent due to the war that has ravaged the country for over three decades. For a country where nine out of 10 people live under a dollar a day and one out of every four children will die before they reach the age of five (UNDP), there are virtually no hospitals, schools or any basic amenities to support this nation especially in the remote parts.

Since 1993, Christian Mission Aid has been in the forefront in bringing aid and relief to South Sudan through Primary Health Care Services, Comprehensive Eye care, Capacity building, and training Sudanese on becoming self sufficient taking ownership of projects. You will find CMA in various locations within the Upper-Nile region in South Sudan. We are located in Keew, Dajo, Padak, Lanken, and we have a mobile eye clinic visiting various places in South Sudan.

Young Peter, and the whole of Juaibor, deep in remote South Sudan, have something worth celebrating. Christian Mission Aid has opened a Primary Health Care Center in Juaibor. It is the first of its kind in Juaibor. Here, there is an inpatient and outpatient ward, a laboratory, and eye clinic and experts on the ground serving to ensure this nation is restored in physical health, even as it strives for political healing.

Pomp and celebrations fill the air during the Center’s commemoration. South Sudan government officials graced the occasion by officially opening the new Primary Health Care Center. Throngs of people gathered to witness the occasion.

To crown the event, the community, CMA staff and the government officials feasted together, which further affirmed their unity in purpose.
