 Clouds of dust rise high in the air and from a distance, there is the excited chatter of children making their way to Vacation Bible School. Their mothers urge them on, “Harakisha. (hurry) It is time!” No one wants to be left behind. The children come by the hundreds; some of them carrying maize, millet, and other grains as form of payment. Nobody is turned away.
VBS is renowned throughout the world as an effective tool in reaching the children for Christ. In Kenya, VBS is catching on. The children, especially those in CMA’s up-country outreach areas are thrilled about it. These kids look forward to VBS because it is the only time they have the Bible presented the way they love it- through Bible studies, crafts and games. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14. Between 500-1000 kids attend Christian Mission Aid’s VBS.
