Christian Outreach

Christian Outreach is the foundation and motivation of other CMA projects.

The program works among the un-reached communities of Kenya, Uganda and Sudan giving them the gift of the Gospel.

Its mission is to reach the un-reached and enable communities implement sustainable community development projects through the church. This program can be described in one word – holistic.

In Kenya, Christian Outreach covers Nairobi, Eastern, Western, Nyanza, and Rift Valley provinces.

Battling resistance in Maasailand, traditional religions and witchcraft in Northern Uganda and violence in South Sudan, this program has withstood the odds to win many souls for Christ.

Lay-Leaders Training

Training forms the backbone of the Christian Outreach program. Thousands of pastors and lay leaders in East Africa have received training, equipping them to be effective leaders and teachers in their communities.

CMA not only trains pastors but also sunday school teachers. The impact these trainings has had on pastors in some of the most remote areas of Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan has had lasting effects in their communities as more and more people learn about God’s truth and are led to Him daily.

Church Planting

We encourage trainees to plant churches in their areas. This gives more people the opportunity to receive the Gospel and make a decision for Christ. Oftentimes, these churches are the only place of worship in their areas and believers faithfully walk for miles and miles to come to meet with other believers. CMA trainees have planted churches in the remote areas of Turkana, Mt. Elgon, Cheptais, Kerio Valley, Maasailand, Nyanza, and Uganda, and more churches are being planted daily for the glory of God.

Bible Distribution

Many rural pastors and lay leaders can hardly afford a Bible of their own. After training, CMA equips them with a Bible – a weapon for Spiritual warfare. Over the years, CMA has given out thousands of Bibles.

Almost every person in Africa speaks more than one language. A common language, like English, or a national dialect, and a their tribal language known as their vernacular tongue. In this language, people talk and some can even read and write fluently. Since English is only taught in learning institutions, those who never had a chance at formal education often can’t speak, read or write it and therefore cannot read their Bibles. Through the Christian Outreach program, Christian Mission Aid (CMA) seeks to reach these un-reached people groups in Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan with the Gospel. We distribute Vernacular Bibles in tribal languages which has greatly facilitated their knowledge of truth and spread the Word of God in their remote communities.

Jesus Film

CMA’s film ministry has been most effective in spreading the Gospel among many remote and un-reached communities in Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan. People are attracted and attentive to the moving pictures on the screen, a rare privilege where they come from, as they watch the story of the Gospel. Perhaps most fascinating to them is that Jesus is speaking in their own language!

The Jesus film, available in many native dialects and languages, brings the message of the cross and Christianity to their lives. They learn of a God who loves them immeasurably, cares about them, and wants to walk with them daily through their harsh and often challenging existences. Countless lives have been touched and saved due to this ministry, and many more will continue to learn about Jesus in some of the most remote areas of Kenya, Uganda and Sudan.

Bicycle Distribution

To a rural pastor or lay-leader, the gift of a bicycle means they can cover more distance, reaching more people with the Gospel.

Many of the remote areas we work in are miles apart and marked by rough terrain, which are difficult to get to with vehicles. In order to serve their people, the pastors and lay leaders walk long distances sometimes up to three or four hours so they can only reach a few people at a time.

A bicycle is a simple and effective tool that makes their travel easier and motivates them to reach more people. CMA provides bicycles to these leaders sending them on their way to sucessfuly spread the Gospel.

Sign Language

They are part of us and live with us, but more often than not, they go through life without a voice. They are largely ignored by society. These are deaf people. CMA’s Sign Language program, which began in 2003, seeks to bridge the gap between the deaf and the hearing, becoming a voice for the deaf. In Kenya, estimates show there are 200,000 deaf people. Most of these are illiterate and uneducated in important matters that affect their lives. Some have never heard the message of the Gospel neither do they know about social issues that affect their lives such as HIV/AIDS. Furthermore, they do not know of any forum through which their problems can be addressed. This is because they have no one to speak for them. At Christian Mission Aid, we seek to bridge the gap between the deaf and the hearing by teaching hearing people to be a voice for the deaf. This is through our Sign Language class, taught to hearing people by a deaf teacher and experience the world through his personal experiences. Coming from different backgrounds and occupations, each student has a story to tell and a burning desire to be an advocate for the deaf. Through the program, graduates are able to make a positive impact in the lives of deaf people in their communities, not only giving them a voice, but also sharing the message of God’s love for them, which surpasses words.
