In Karamoja, basic survival is a struggle.

Karamoja is a land with a long history of war and violence. Hostility between tribes, cattle raiding, and distrust run deep in the society.
Located in the northeast corner of Uganda, Karamoja’s population consists mainly of nomadic herders. The region suffers from repeated drought and food insecurity. With a very high rate of malnourished children, many are suffering day after day from hunger and have little access to medical care. While many international organizations are working to help the people of Karamoja, there is still so much that needs to be done.
Survival is a struggle in Karamoja, Uganda.
The people are stuck in a cycle of poverty and dependency, and are accustomed to being forgotten.
Several tribes, rich in diversity and culture, make up the 1.2 million inhabitants of Karamoja. While many identify themselves as Christians, most still practice their traditional religious beliefs. Widespread illiteracy in the area makes it difficult for the people who accept Christ to actually grow in their understanding of the gospel.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We share God’s compassion for the poor and dream of a Karamoja where community leaders are empowered to lift their own people out of poverty.
We dream of a Karamoja where God’s peace unites the people, and where children no longer wonder where their next meal will come from.
We dream of a Karamoja where the Gospel of Jesus Christ transforms hearts and renews minds
Where the Word of God brings life to those who hear it
Where the joy of the Lord is the strength of the people
And lives are changed from the inside out.
At CMA, we are trusting God to open doors so we can train pastors and community leaders in Karamoja so they are equipped to serve their people and share the love of Christ. We ask that you join us in praying for these beautiful people and consider supporting us financially to make this work possible.
