Youth Bible Camp

Christian Mission Aid focuses on addressing human needs as anchored in her vision, and seeks to create platforms and avenues where such target groups are redirected, taught and mentored into becoming a generation that God intended them to be. It is in this spirit that CYM has been partnering with Bible believing churches in reaching, raising and mentoring children through VBS’, Youth Camps, Sports Outreach and other children related activities and events meant to build their faith and their relationship with God.

For the 3rd year in a row during the August school break, children from sprawling Korogocho, Mathare and Ngomongo slums gathered at Christ Independent Baptist Church in Lucky Summer with the goal to bring together kids to experience special touch of God’s love through various life changing activities. Bible lessons, Fun games, memory verse recitation, Art and craft, songs and hymns were some of the activities the children enjoyed.
Children from the slums rarely have 3 meals in a day. They survive on 1 meal a day, 2 if they are lucky. Most of them come from poor families who live on less than 1 dollar a day. During this year’s camp, CMA provided meals and snacks for all the kids who attended the camp, which was such a blessing to them.

Over a period of 3 years since we started to reach out to these kids, there have been good reports from parents, teachers and the pastors of how the behaviors of children had drastically changed. It was also clear that there was steady improvement in school performance, increase in the Sunday school enrollments and general spiritual growth among the young generation. We anticipate to see reduced crime cases, rebellion among children, better-quality knowledge of the Word of God and the intrinsic values imparted in the families as a result of such children outreaches.

The host Pastor acknowledged the noble course of CMA in reaching out to the children and extended his appreciation to all who gave their generous support towards this year’s camp. We look forward to reaching out to more kids with the gospel of our Lord Jesus so that they may continue to be enriched, strengthened in their faith and have the assurance of believers as revealed in the Bible.

SMART GIRL & BOY INITIATIVE

Many Kenyan school going girls cannot afford sanitary items, and as a result, miss class every year due to their menstrual cycles. School absence lowers girls’ academic performance and self-esteem and widens gender disparities. Through Christian Mission Aid’s Smart Girl program, adolescent girls are provided with educational lectures, counselling and sanitary kits, giving them a better understanding and confidence of who they are and allowing them to stay in school. Young adolescent boys are also provided with lectures and education on pear pressure, drugs, character building, health, sexual matters and proper behavior in relationships. All education and counselling on based on Christian principles.
